Finally! We know what J.K. Rowling’s mysterious Pottermore website is all about! Well, we sort of do. After much anticipation, Rowling finally made the big announcement today that the Pottermore website that has previously been shrouded in mystery will be available in October to the millions & millions of Harry Potter fans around the world. So what exactly is Pottermore? It is something that the readers of the Magical World of Harry Potter will absolutely love–an interactive reading website and the only place to buy audio books & eBooks of the series. Personally, I’m quite excited. In the video posted on the site, Rowling basically states that this will be an entirely new way to experience the magical world with new things added that we didn’t read in the books. She promises that even more will be revealed about the world of Harry Potter–things that she herself has kept close to her and never revealed. As an avid HP fan, I’m really looking forward to this new site! I think that this will be something that will have the true Harry Potter fans excited and eager to continue into the magical world of witches & wizards for many years to come. An interactive reading website opens up doors that paper books cannot, honestly. It will also give the chance for Rowling herself to interact with fans and even (hopefully) create a little back story, new characters, “deleted book scenes,” and so much more. Rowling is still making sure that the site itself and what it will really be is still kept under wraps for now with a note to the side asking fans to return on July 31st to find out more. I can’t wait! Thanks to Ms. Rowling for letting the magic of Harry Potter continue!

I’m sure by now that you have all heard of Pottermore. But we have yet to really have any clue as to what it could mean. J. K. Rowling is famous for making sure all things Harry Potter stay under wraps until she is completely ready to release whatever magic she has in store for her fans. Pottermore is no exception. Reading through comments on the Harry Potter Facebook page, fan sites, and more, you are greeted with an array of thoughts as to what Rowling means by her YouTube posting that The Owls are Gathering. Some have said that it will be a new book, maybe some short stories, a new theme park in the UK, a gaming site, or a place to buy memorabilia.

The last Potter movie will be released in less than a month, and it looks like Rowling is making sure she keeps fans happy with Pottermore, even though none of us really know what it is yet. However, an article released today suggests that Pottermore could be some sort of online gaming community that integrates real-world clues or prizes with an online community (Read more here). I think that would be quite cool for us Potter fans. I know I’d love it.

Of course, we can all still hold our breath and hope that she changes her mind and decides to release another book, but if you think about it, an online community/game of some sort would definitely be a better economic move. It can go on forever!

Either way, I think we fans of Harry Potter will be thrilled and enthralled with whatever Pottermore has in store for us. I’ll be doing some more posts on Pottermore as soon as it is revealed so make sure to keep watching Coffee & Literature for updates! T

Thanks also to J.K., for giving us something else to keep the magic going!

I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed reading everyones posts about blogging, books, & everything in between, and I hope a few of you enjoyed mine! I hope that next year’s Armchair BEA will find me as a complete and total participant even if I have to sit in the car all the way to our next vacation destination with the laptop, iPad, or iPhone attached to me so that I can keep up!

With all of that said, I’ll give you a couple of links so that you can find my Armchair BEA posts:

So, what were they? Here are the three I read along with links to my reviews on them in no particular order.

My 2011 Books (so far…)

Ophelia Joined the Group Maidens Who Don’t Float: Classic Lit Signs on to Facebook - “Elizabeth threw a sheep at Mr. Darcy.” This is only one of the many hilarious lines from the Sarah Schmelling’s book Ophelia Joined the Group Maidens Who Don’t Float: Classic Lit Signs on to Facebook. Schmelling has brilliantly taken our obsession with social networking and applied it to some of our favorite authors and characters from classic literature.

Being Light - This book is definitely a different comedy novel than I’ve read before. We begin with our “main character” Roy, who happens to be suddenly swept away by a strong gust of wind while trying to install one of those bouncy castles (You know, the ones you can’t keep the kids off of at the fair, flea market, etc.). So, Roy is swept away to former circus performer/trainer Sylvia’s farm. Roy actually believes that he has made it to heaven. Smith’s description of Roy’s views of the farm really make you see how dumbfounded Roy is at his circumstance, making for a wonderfully funny story.

On Writing - Being an aspiring writer, I am always looking for tips and books to help me make my stories, poems, and novels even better. King’s memoir does just that. I call it a memoir because, first of all, he does in the title of his book, and also because he has kindly included different stories from his own life to help the reader understand how to become a better writer.

Books I’m looking forward to in 2011: Some of these aren’t being or weren’t published this year, but I am planning to read them soon!

My day job as a high school English teacher seems to have prepared me well to be a book blogger. I blog about books my kids read & books I teach. I blog about books I enjoy reading for fun. And much of the time, I blog about books of which I’ve received an ARC copy from the author. Those are the most fun. Who knows? I could discover the next Stephen King or J.K. Rowling or Danielle Steele (whoa, where did that come from???) The bottom line is, I love books, I love reading, I love coffee, & I love blogging. So, put all of that together & what do you end up with? Coffee & Literature!

So where did I get the title of my awesome blog you ask? It was honestly a matter of trial and error. I’ve

Some of my favorite books

gotten so used to Coffee & Literature that I don’t even remember what the original name I wanted was; all I remember is that it was already taken on both WordPress.com & Blogger. Last July, I somehow came up with the idea to review books. I had some time on my hands and thought it would be a great idea. I had no clue that I would end up getting to review ARC copies from authors or that I would be inspired to write my own novel, Welcome Home, as a participant in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). But that is what the little monster has become, and I love it.

A little about me, you ask? Sure! I turned 30 in April & have taught English for three years. I have one Master’s degree in Education (curriculum & instruction) from Freed-Hardeman University, and I will be

One of the old designs for Coffee & Literature and a great book, 'Being Light'

getting a second Master’s degree beginning in the fall. This time it will be in Journalism. See, more writing! I’m addicted! I’m married with 5, count ‘em FIVE, furkids (thought I was going to say just kids, didn’tcha?) I have three cats, one big mutt, and an adorable Yorkie.

Where do I blog from? I’ve got several places, actually. One is on my great room couch (I’m there now, actually). One is at my desk in my upstairs office at home. The last two places I normally blog from are either at the local Panera, Starbucks, or a local coffee shop called Green Frog. You can see pictures of my desk on the header for my blog. It’s quite comfy & very geeky with all of the Mac stuff. :)

So, that’s a little about me. I hope you enjoy my blog, my reviews, & your own participation in Armchair BEA 2011!

Happy Reading & stay caffeinated!

So, how am I going to kick off my back-to-blogging summer? With Armchair BEA! What is this I speak of you ask? It is a virtual book blogging convention that follows Book Expo America & the Book Blogger Convention. Obviously, since I won’t be off work until the end of the week I can’t attend the real convention in NYC, so this is perfect.

There is an official agenda for the virtual convention bloggers beginning on May 23 to May 27. There will be daily themes, interviews with bloggers, giveaways, and more. So if you’re a book blogger, check it out! Make sure to keep checking back on Coffee & Literature for updates and my contributions to the daily posts!

To WordPress, that is. I’ve decided to try out hosting using godaddy.com & wordpress.org for my main blog, Coffee & Literature. I’m not sure if I like paying monthly for hosting, but we’ll see. It’s been a headache trying to get everything moved over since godaddy actually messed up the DNS settings. So far, there are several things I like on both. I like the stats on Google better and a few other things, so I’ll be here definitely for at least a month and we’ll see how well this goes. Which blogging platform, hosting, etc. do you all use? Leave a comment and let me know what you think the best one is!

Hello, faithful readers! I’ll be back to blogging regularly next week, but I wanted to go ahead and let everyone know about my other two blogs that I recently started. Some of you know that I also write fashion articles and a couple of tech articles for Women that WOW!. I’ve also written a few tech reviews and accessory/fashion reviews here on Coffee & Literature. So, with all of that in mind, I’ve decided to start two more blogs dealing with fashion (with a Southern twist) and tech stuff. You can find them at TheSouthernSophisticate.com and MacGirlTech.com. Obviously, the names of the sites are the same as the domain names to keep it simple. So, for those of you who like fashion and/or technology, follow those blogs to stay up-to-date!

And never fear, I’ll be back next week with a few book reviews for you!

I’m sure some of you have been wondering where I’ve been. The last entry I wrote was at the end of March, and I’ve been all but invisible since then. To be honest, I’ve basically been really busy. Sometimes teaching full time doesn’t lend itself to be kind to the blogging world. In case you didn’t know, teaching isn’t a job that lasts from only 8 to 3. For the past three weeks I’ve been in conference calls concerning technology and trying to plan the school prom. So, my time has, of course, been focused on my job. Believe me, I’ve definitely missed the blogging world and reading things other than what I’ve got my students reading! But it is almost summer and I hope to be catching up on my blogging.

I’ve got a couple of things in the works to get reviewed–Across Eternity by Aris Whittier and The Summoner by Layton Green are both on my current review list. I’m also reading Naturally Thin by RHoNY (Real Housewives of New York) alum Bethenny Frankel. The latter book is mainly for me, but I’ll end up reviewing it, too, I’m sure.

As far as my life, things have slowed down a bit a school, so, again, I hope to be back to blogging soon. I will tell you all that I’ve applied to the University of Memphis’ Master of Arts in Journalism program. It will be an online program, and I’m very excited about it. If I’m accepted, I’ll be taking classes in the fall. The only disadvantage is that I’ll probably have to end up holding off on the blogging a bit. I also plan to do NaNoWriMo again so that will take away from blogging, too. But I’ll still be around.

I hope to be getting a few reviews out soon, so stay tuned!
