Teaser Tuesdays (July 6)

Teaser Tuesdays is hosted by Should be Reading.  My posts will consist of a “teaser” from whatever I’m currently reading.  Hopefully this might entice some of you to read some of the books I’m reading.

Even though I’m still reading Emma (I am hoping to be finished soon!), this weeks teaser is from a short story that is one of my favorites to read and to teach.  I’ll be discussing this story further on Saturday for Short Story Saturdays.  Here we go…

“Briefly, she told her story about going out to the grocer and coming back to find him on the floor.  While she was talking, crying and talking, Noonan discovered a small patch of congealed blood on the dead man’s head.”

–“Lamb to the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl

Yes, this story was written by the same Roald Dahl of Charlie & the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach fame.  Dahl also wrote the book The Witches, which, while not as popular as the previously mentioned books, is quite a good read.

Don’t forget to check out my full review of “Lamb to the Slaughter” that will be posted Saturday!
