If anyone has ever seen the movie The Jane Austen Book Club, you have heard this line from the quirky and crazy Bernadette when she is consoling Prudie. I’m not sure if the line is in the book or not because, to be honest, I haven’t read the book yet. But that’s what this post is about–The Jane Austen Project. Well, that’s what I’m calling it. Starting today I am beginning a small “project” that I vowed to do after I saw the movie The Jane Austen Book Club.
My project is actually going to start by my reading the book The Jane Austen Book Club and will then continue by my reading the novels the group reads in the book. In the book, the “club” reads Austens six novels–Emma, Sense & Sensibilty, Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey, Pride & Prejudice, and Persuasion. I plan to review the novels (and possibly the movies based on them) and post them here on Coffee & Literature. I may throw in a review or two of books based on the Austen novels, as well. Either way, I hope that this little “project” will be as fullfilling to you as I hope it is to me. Happy reading!
